I, (Mary Phelps) began my career in the equestrian world as a groom working for the legendary WM. R.(Billy) Haughton in 1978. There I met a retired salesman from Wisconsin who travelled to Florida each winter. He had created a job for himself photographing the young standardbreds in training. In the afternoons I would work for him catalogue and filing negatives. Hence the beginning of a career that has spanned a lifetime.
These pages are meant to gradually chronicle some of my memories. Please don’t ask me to find old photos, these are all random prints now in piles.
