Transitions show the quality of training. Eventually one must be able to switch gears within the gaits and between the gaits with no resistance and self carriage. In tests when you donāt perform a clear transition then the horse will fall apart. Itās just a matter of how soon. When mistakes happen itās most likely because a transition didnāt happen several movements before and the horse is out of balance. Sometimes itās subtle and other times very obvious. It is up to you to rectify this. When horse is in ideal balance then a movement becomes easy.
