In another record-breaking attendance day at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games with 50,818 spectators, Michael Jung (GER) on La Biosthetique-Sam maintained his lead Saturday in the cross country phase of eventing. The rest of the pack, however, shifted with William Fox-Pitt (GBR) moving into second place on Cool Mountain and Rebecca Holder (USA) in third place on Courageous Comet.
Iman du Golfe, horse # 73 (ITA), was injured at fence 20. The horse was treated for a deep laceration over the left elbow region, with x-rays showing no fractures but a bone chip. Iman du Golfe is currently resting comfortably at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, where attending vets believe he will make a full recovery. Eventing will conclude Sunday afternoon with the jumping phase.
