Scott Brash: Off to A Fantastic Start at the Longines Global Champion Tour Cannes
Saturday, June 13, 2015 | Mary Phelps
Scott Brash finished last year’s Jumping of Cannes by winning with Hello Sanctos in the Grand Prix, and comes back this year with another victory on the very first day with Hello Annie. The secret to his success : the mare was relaxed.
“Well, it’s a good start in this competition. Hello Annie jumped fantastically today. She is a fun horse, and she needs to be relaxed. When she feels that way, she can win any competition. When she is uptight, she doesn’t jump very well. After a break, she needs to jump one course to get back in the game. What she really needs is to jump classes consecutively to settle. In Saint-Tropez, she jumped really well on the first day, and as the days passed, she kept getting better and today she was amazing.
John Whitaker with Argento was defeated tonight. A result that inspired the young Scottish’s comment: “John is an amazing rider, a fabulous rider who represents a role model not only for me but for a lot of riders.”
