USET Announces Show Jumping Team For Samsung Nations Cup World Final

Gladstone, New Jersey -August 15, 2001-2000 Sydney Olympic Show Jumping teammates Margie Goldstein-Engle of West Palm Beach, FL and Lauren Hough of Ocala, FL plus team alternate Todd Minikus of Loxahatchee, FL, along with Beezie Patton Madden of Cazenovia, NY were named to compete on the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Show Jumping team at Samsung Nations Cup World Final in Madrid, Spain, September 20-23. This is the same team that has been named to compete at the CSIO Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada, September 5 – 9. McLain Ward of Brewster, NY is first alternate and Alison Firestone of Upperville, VA has been named as second alternate. George Morris will serve as Chef d’Equipe. 

Engle will compete on her Olympic mount Hidden Creek’s Perin, owned by Hidden Creek Farm. Engle recently rode Hidden Creek’s Perin to victory in the $100,000 Nevele Grand Prix in Ellenville, NY. Hough, who won the $50,000 Cosequin Grand Prix in March and was the leading rider in this year’s FEI World Cup East Coast League Final rankings, will ride Windy City, owned by Peppercorn Limited. Minikus, who recently won a string of Grand Prix titles that included the $175,000 Cargill Grand Prix of the United States and the $100,000 Rolex/USET Show Jumping Championship, will compete with his horse Oh Star. Madden will ride Judgement, owned by Iron Spring Farm, whom she rode to a second place finish in Spruce Meadows at the ATCO Power Queen Elizabeth II Cup in July.
