Though surprised that there was so such few entries at such a lovely venue, Peter Engel (GER ā€˜I’) was happy with the quality of horses and riding he judged on Friday in both the open show and the CDI. ā€œThere were very good horses here, and it was clear that they had been trained in the classical way.ā€ When asked about specific examples of such training, Engel quickly responded, ā€œAll of Steffen’s horses and those from his barn looked very good.ā€ Engel’s comments echo other spectators’ compliments about Shannon Peters beautiful winning ride in the open Grand Prix aboard Kranak with a score of 65.083%. He was also happy that the ground jury’s scores were close and felt that was very important as the judges represented several countries: USA, Peru, Belgium and Germany.

In addition to good horses, Engle and the rest of the Ground Jury were delighted with the atmosphere and the show grounds. He said, ā€œThe atmosphere is friendly, and the competitors are so nice to one another. Of course, the I LOVE the weather.ā€
