Though surprised that there was so such few entries at such a lovely venue, Peter Engel (GER ‘I’) was happy with the quality of horses and riding he judged on Friday in both the open show and the CDI. “There were very good horses here, and it was clear that they had been trained in the classical way.” When asked about specific examples of such training, Engel quickly responded, “All of Steffen’s horses and those from his barn looked very good.” Engel’s comments echo other spectators’ compliments about Shannon Peters beautiful winning ride in the open Grand Prix aboard Kranak with a score of 65.083%. He was also happy that the ground jury’s scores were close and felt that was very important as the judges represented several countries: USA, Peru, Belgium and Germany.

In addition to good horses, Engle and the rest of the Ground Jury were delighted with the atmosphere and the show grounds. He said, “The atmosphere is friendly, and the competitors are so nice to one another. Of course, the I LOVE the weather.”
