Germany Wins European Dressage Team Championship

The German Team with Alexandra Simons-De Ridder, Nadine Cappellmann, Isabell Werth and Ulla Salzgeber won the European Dressage Championship in Arnhem, The Netherlands Thursday July 1, 1999, with a total of 5606 points. In second, the Dutch Team with Grand Prix Winner, Anky Van Grunsven, Coby Van Baalen, Arjen Teeuwissen, and Ellen Bonje with 5577, and in third Denmark, with Lars Peterson, Jon Pedersen, Ann Van Olst-Koch and Lone Jorgensen, with a total of 5169. In addition Eric Lette announced that Switzerland has qualified to send a team to the Olympics, and Italy and Poland can send one individual. Lette also commented that this was the finest selection of horses and rides, making the judging difficult but a pleasure.
