FEI European Pony Championships – Fontainebleau (FRA) – 17/22 July 2012

Thursday, June 21, 2012 | Mary Phelps

The Etrier d’Arbonne, the association who organizes the FEI European Pony Championships 2012 in Fontainebleau (FRA), decided to fully associate the FPPCF (Federation of French ponies and small horses) that is the representative organization of the pony sector – and particularly the breeding part – recognized by the French Ministry of Agriculture. Sport and breeding constitute an indivisible event gathered under the name of Euro Poney 2012, the best showcase for French breeders to exchange with the twenty countries invited to the event.

8 studbooks will be present during one week with sport demonstrations of the best ponies but also through other moments:

  • The first International Connemara breeding contest approved by the Irish studbook – birthplace of the breed – and organized out of Ireland. The Irish studbook will welcome visitors on its stand and send a jury for the contest.
  • An important amicable sale of ponies with sport (Elite and Young) and Leisure categories.
  • The Shetland breeding show for the Ile-de-France-Paris region.
  • A Leisure Qualification, French seal of approval to promote the training of ponies intended for leisure use.

The Société Hippique Française, French Equestrian Society for young sport & leisure horses and ponies, joined the Euro Poney’s partners club by sponsoring the young ponies Grand Prix (6 and 7 years old), while the Fonds Eperon supports the FPPCF for the organization of the breeding village. The Euro Poney is a unique place to meet at the same moment the main actors involved in the French sector and appraise their diversity and quality.
