Kristy Oatley (AUS) and Ronan 2

The Australian Kristy Oatley was able to move forward and win this year’s Grand Prix JFC Duffort Motors – Manors of Tourgéville, the first important competition of the only international dressage competition organized in Normandy. After placing 11th last year in this same class, Oatley with the giant Ronan 2 finished ahead of Portuguese Ricardo Wallenstein (2nd) and the French Marc Boblet (3rd). In the Prix St. George,  Jonna Schelstraete (NED) gave the Netherlands their first success just ahead of Francoise Hologne-Joux (BEL) and Jennifer Hoffmann (USA) 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In the absence of her cousin Lyndal, victorious in the class last year, Kristy did not miss her chance to keep the trophy in Australia. Her giant horse Ronan 2, still impressive by his ease at all paces in spite of his size. He wowed the judges, especially the French Jean-Michel Roudier, who was member of the jury at the London Olympics and who will officiate in the upcoming European Championships . With an average of 70.080%, Kristy improved her score by two points compared to 2014, allowing her to overtake the Portuguese Ricardo Wallenstein riding the Lusitano Bem Me Quer that the American judge, Lelo Fore placed in the lead. The French were pretty well placed. Marc Boblet and Noble Dream finished on the 3rd step of the podium, while Claire Gosselin and her homebred stallion Karamel de Lauture ended fourth, only separated by 0,020 points.
