The USDF/USEF Young Rider Graduate Program, with funding support provided by The Dressage Foundation, is designed to help the young rider graduate into the professional world of international competition, teaching, training, and equine business management. Both USDF and USEF realize the transition from young rider to adult is not an easy one, and have developed a program to help with that transition. Both organizations feel it is important to nurture and foster our future leaders, providing education about what is required for a successful dressage career.
The Young Rider Graduate Program is a weekend educational seminar offered to pre qualified participants that will focus on crucial topics such as: fundraising, sponsorship and grants, training opportunities, ethics, business management, management of the high performance horse, legal issues, goal setting and leadership.
DressageDaily's Mary Phelps and managing editor Lynndee Kemmet will be speaking on Sunday Hilton Palm Beach Airport Hotel, on the topic of “Marketing Yourself 101: the do’s and don’ts of marketing yourself and your business" joining a panel with Jane Clark and Mark Herthel who will be discussing sponsorship from different perspectives.
"Lynndee and I are especially interested in sharing our perspectives as journalists who have for year been interviewing riders and attending press conferences. We will be adding perspectives of other journalists, their pet peeves, and favorite people they interview and why. I am headed to Ocala today to tape an interview with USEF Horsewoman of the Year Karen O'Connor, who's Pan American Gold medal partner Theodore O'Connor also won the USEF/Farnam Horse of the Year to bring the added perspective of one of our country's most successful competitors. When we are finsihed will will share our perspectives as well as coverage of the highlights of this weekend with our readers."
Seminar presenters include foremost national/ international competitors and trainers, successful young rider graduates and representatives from key national organizations. The 2008 Young Rider Graduate Program includes attendance at the Saturday evening reception and education session with Jan Brink for the 2008 Succeed®/USDF FEI-Level Trainers’ Conference. In addition, participants in the Young Rider Graduate Program have been offered the option to attend the remaining Trainers Conference sessions following the conclusion of the Young Rider Graduate Program.
