For the eighth time in the history of the Pan American Games, USA claimed Jumping Team gold at Quillota in Chile today where Canada slotted into silver medal spot and the defending champions from Brazil took bronze.
Brazil led the way as the action began but team-member and overnight individual leader, Marlon Zanotelli, had two difficult rounds and opted to retire in round two.

So when both the Americans and Canadians added nothing to their score-lines following yesterday’s opening Speed competition, and with the best three scores per team to count, it all came down to the final Brazilian partnership of Rodrigo Pessoa and Major Tom who were last into the ring.
Two fences on the floor for the six-time Olympian saw his side drop from gold to bronze medal position, while it was the US foursome of McLain Ward (Contagious), Karl Cook (Caracole de la Roque), Kent Farrington (Landon) and Laura Kraut (Dorado 212) who rose to the top step of the medal podium.
The three teams qualifying spots for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games went to USA, Canada and fourth-placed Mexico.
America’s McLain Ward now heads the Individual rankings going into Friday’s Individual final ahead of team-mate Laura Kraut in second and Brazil’s Stephan de Freitas Barcha and Pedro Veniss in third and fourth places. But less than a fence separates the top-10 when the actions resumes for the final day.
