US Plan For Dressage Team at Aachen Foiled By Injury to Maksymilian
Monday, June 15, 2009
The USA was to have a Nation’s Cup Team team starting at Aachen for the first time since 2005, but due to a minor injury to Jane Hannigan’s Maksymilian, there will be just two individuals competing for the US at the number one ranked horse show in the world. “Mak” who is sound and in work has a splint which showed up on an ultrasound and Hannigan chose not to risk further complications by competing.
“The plan had been to start a team of three – Steffen Peters and Ravel, Catherine Haddad with Cadillac and Jane Hannigan and Maksymilian.” Gil Merrick told dressagedaily. “Maksymilian had an injury and had to withdraw this week so we will only start the two individuals in the CDIO5* and Catherine also has Maximus JSS entered in the CDI4*.”
Merrick will be putting together a complete schedule of where US riders will be competing in Europe from July through to the end of 2009 which will be released after the Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Dressage Festival Championships, June 18-21.
