Her horse, Oxford, also won the Best Turned Out Horse Award. David Marcus, leading his horse Don Kontes and wearing a jacket and tie, won the Best Turned Out Male Award. A nicely presented horse and rider is a long-standing tradition in FEI jogs. “There was a lot of competition for the Best Turned Out Awards,” said Debbie Witty, President of Trilogy Saddles. “In spite of the rain, many of the riders were well appointed and everyone remained cheerful, even though the horses were not happy with the mud.”
Witty said the winning horse, Oxford, was beautifully braided and despite the weather his white was still gleaming. “Oxford won a full Christ fleece saddle pad from Trilogy and Nicole and David each won dressage whips from Trilogy,” Witty said.
Fortunately the weather turned better on the days following the jog, with beautiful skies gracing the Devon show grounds. “We are always glad to be at Devon, it’s the highlight of our year,” Witty said. “Devon has the atmosphere of a country fair but brings in nationally ranked horses.”
Trilogy Saddles, who had a booth set up at the show and also sponsored several classes, has been sponsoring Devon for 15 years. “We have many clients who regularly show at Devon and we really enjoy the experience, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. It’s a great experience for us to give back to the equestrian community by sponsoring an amazing show like Devon,” Witty said.
Witty, a qualified saddle fitter from the Society of Master Saddlers of England, developed her line of Trilogy Saddles after recognizing that there was a need in the market place for a saddle line that addresses more of the horse and riders needs. “It is extremely rewarding to have the opportunity to build and provide horses and their riders with a saddle that generates more comfort, makes the rider more effective and enhances the team’s performance,” Witty said. “Over the years I have helped top riders such as Debbie McDonald, Shannon Peters, Courtney King-Dye, George Williams and Guenter Seidel with their saddle needs and it has been a very rewarding experience.”
