Malvern, PA – The Black Tie and Boots Ball, held May 7 at Bryn Clovis, a section of Mrs. J. Maxwell Moran’s Brushwood Farm in Malvern, drew over 300 guests to the very popular dinner dance and auction. Following cocktails, Radnor Hunt’s huntsman, Joe Cassidy, sounded his horn to invite the guests in to dinner and then sounded it again to announce the live auction’s start. Dinner was catered by Jimmy Duffy Catering, and floral arrangements were provided by Valley Forge Flowers.

The auction raised $20,325 which is more than double what last year’s auction raised.  The Wells Fargo stagecoach was very popular, and, during the auction, the opportunity ride on Friday evening, June 3 sold for $4,600.  The two week stay in a beachfront home in Duck, N.C., went for $5500 and one week in a Florida condominium brought $2,700.  Radnor Hunt Master Michael Tillson explained the working of the private hunt offered for bid by Radnor, and, after enthusiastic bidding, it sold for $2,200.  Because of the great success of the auction, Ball organizers feel the event will raise considerably more than that the approximately $25,000 raised last year. The Ball benefits the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Foundation. The event was enjoyed by all, the band Sugarfoot Farm, featuring musicians George “GT” Corrigan and Jim Unger playing classic, danceable rock-and-roll, was very popular and kept people dancing until the very end. The Wells Fargo stagecoach was at Bryn Clovis, just outside the tent, and many posed in front of it for great photos. Land Rover had three cars at the ball.  Two, the Jaguar XJ and the Range Rover Sport, are the official Devon Derby Cars.  Chances will be sold during the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair, May 26 to June 5. The third car, a one month lease on the XKR Jaguar convertible, was auctioned for $1,200 during the party as part of the live auction. The Ball was a smashing success and a great fund raiser for the Foundation.
