Welcome to the  2023 65th year of Tempel Farms and the Tempel Lipizzans! Be sure to make plans to come out this season as we pay tribute to our anniversary year with a brand new soundtrack to the performance. Bring all your senses as we merge our classical dressage and choreography with American songs and song writers as the soundtrack of our Dancing Through the Decades performances. Can you imagine it? Spicy foals prancing around to ragtime music, an upbeat solo performance set to swing music and Broadway show tunes accompanying the precision of the Quadrille.

Season Debut on Father’s Day June 18, 2023

The Tempel Lipizzan season debuts on Sunday, June 18, 2023, Father’s Day and there’s a lot of great stuff to see. This will be the first time our babies will witness a crowd and they are only 1-3 months old. We will also pay tribute to the legacy of the Lipizzan breed with an introduction to the show which will showcase each of the foundational sire lines.

Why “Dancing” through the Decades? The art of classical horsemanship is a training and riding style which seeks to achieve harmony and partnership between horse and rider. Coupled with the inherent beauty of the natural equine movement, the extraordinary partnership of dressage creates an expression of beauty that some can only describe as dance.

The “dance” movements presented in our performances are built upon the innate abilities of the Lipizzans and the 400-year-old time honored traditions of the breed. Quite often you can see young foals performing airs above the ground or pirouettes in the pasture as their mothers munch summer grass nearby. The awesome but exhilarating task of classical training is to harness and develop their natural ability to be in sync with ours. It becomes a life-long passionate journey to perfection for those that take it on.

As always, thank you for sharing my grandparents’ love and passion for the Lipizzan breed and classical dressage. We are honored to carry on that tradition in this year of celebration.
