Steffen Peters and Ravel rode to another win in the CDI Grand Prix competition on the second day of the Dressage Affaire CDI in Del Mar, CA. The pair earned its win with a percentage of 76.000%, giving them a career high score. Peters was thrilled this both the ride and the score. “Our score was higher today than when I showed him in Florida at the World Dressage Masters,” stated Peters about this season’s qualifying rides on the 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Aikiko Yamazaki.

“Ravel was actually more fresh in Florida and as a result the piaffe felt much more active. I received 9’s for that piaffe there, and today the piaffe didn’t feel quite as active, but were still good.” Peters and Ravel are currently vying for a spot to compete at the 2009 FEI World Cup Finals in Las Vegas next month.

Peters also finished second in the Grand Prix CDI with Canadian Leslie Reid’s 2008 Olympic mount, Orion, who is owned by Patricia Hatch. The pair earned a score of 71.319%. Orion is a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding by Jazz. Close behind Peters and Orion was Leslie Morse and Tip Top 962. Morse and Tip Top 962, a Swedish stallion by Master, earned a score of 71.149%.
