Sonnenberg Farm And Endel Ots Team Up to Produce The Next US-Bred Champion To Fuel The Pipeline! Over the past year, Grand Prix dressage trainer Endel Ots has been working with U.S. breeders, Sonnenberg Farm to develop the farm’s  homebred mare, Sonnenberg’s Everdance, and the results were everything such a partnership could hope for: an undefeated season with consistently impressive scores, a 2020 USEF Intermediare-I Dressage National Championship, and USEF Horse of the Year honors at Intermediare-I and Prix St Georges.

Now, Sonnenberg’s Everdance is offered for sale, with hopes of her international groundwork providing a leg-up for another American dressage rider aspiring to compete on the U.S. Small Tour and beyond.

For Ots, the graduation of his partner is anything but bittersweet, as Sonnenberg Farm dressage horse breeders, Dan and Gina Ruediger have recently put their newest rising star, 2020 USEF Young Horse Four Year-Old Champion, Sonnenberg’s Jenna, in his hands.

“Working with Sonnenberg Farm and their Oregon based trainer, Michele Bondy is all about developing horses from their own US breeding program and bringing them up as international and Grand Prix prospects,” says Ots, whose role with the farm has also gone to supporting and developing a deeper pool of American dressage talent.

“Sonnenberg Farm breeds the horses, and my goal is to train and ready them for competition and win national championships. Then, to make this caliber of horses available for sale in the United States, for American riders, whether that’s a young rider, adult amateur, or someone looking to go compete at the CDI level.”

With multiple dressage national champions to the breeding farm’s credit already, he predicts Sonnenberg Farm will continue to evolve as respected pipeline for U.S.-bred, top-level dressage horses. “And I’m excited to be a part of that,” Ots says.

Dan and Gina Ruediger built their breeding farm on humble roots and have expanded the breeding program to selectively include a bevy of the finest KWPN bloodlines in the world. The results in the show ring speak to their success and in 2017, Sonnenberg Farm was recognized as the KWPN Breeder of the Year.  This year, Sonnenberg Farm has six more very exciting prospects that are slated to fuel the pipeline following Sonnenberg’s Everdance and Sonnenberg’s Jenna.

With Sonnenberg’s Jenna next in that pipeline, Florida based Ots has a busy season ahead.  “We’re still playing around. She’s very talented, and I’m still figuring her out and developing our relationship.”

Are there any Grand Prix or Small Tour championships in their future this year or next? It’s too early to tell, but Ots will say, “I try to develop the best possible plan for success for every horse -- and for their owner.”

“My job is getting them ready for the show ring, with the right program to help them hit their highest level.”
