Devon, PA – Suzy Stafford of Wilmington, Delaware, took home yet another win in carriage driving on the weekend of May 23- 25, 2014 at the 118th Devon Horse Show and Country Fair in Devon, Pennsylvania. This time Stafford drove a team of horses, as apposed to her trademark single, and the team representd two generations of miniatures. She drove a team made up of three mares and one gelding in the four-in-hand of Miniature Horses in the pony marathon division, and the oldest mare the dam of the other three members of the team. “This was a new experience for me driving a four-in-hand in competition. I am normally behind one large horse. I love these little girls (and guy); they put a smile on everyone’s face. The ‘cuteness’ factor is overwhelming,” Stafford smiled. All four of the Miniature Horses on Stafford’s team are owned by Anne Carlino. As the oldest annual horse show in the United States, the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair holds over a century’s history of talented equestrians and enthusiastic spectators. The show’s 118th year lived up to history’s expectations. Stafford commented “After growing up in Bear and now living in Wilmington, this is a local gem for me. I love waiting in the warm-up area and seeing many friends and equestrians I grew up with. We could not have asked for more perfect weather. Sun, good competition, and great camaraderie is what made this day a winner.”

Stafford was happy with the results that she and her Miniature team received at the show, and all five seemed to truly enjoy the experience. The champion carriage driver is grateful to all who helped make this possible. “Even though these horses are half the size, it takes a full size support crew to get everything ready! I had a wonderful crew helping me and appreciate all that goes into the show experience.” Stafford said.
