Just last week, at her husband eventer Boyd Martin’s True Prospect Farm in West Grove, PA a tragic fire took the lives of six horses with four surviving horses under veterinary care. All dressage horses in Silva’s care were stabled separately and safe, with two being prepared for the Markel/USEF Young Horse Eastern Selection Trial at the VADA/NOVA Summer Dressage Competition at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virgina; Melinda Waltons 5-year-old mare Contantina by Contucci, and Faye Wolf’s six-year-old Aesthete, by Trento B. Riding an “expressive and impressive trot” scored Aesthete an 8.3 for that movement under Linda Zang in the warm up class, suggestions were offered in the commentary each horse and rider hear along with the spectators as part of the unique factor of the Young Horse classes. For Martin who is soldiering on this weekend in the Young Horse Finals beginning today with the preliminary test, she was given advise on how to improve her 7.9 overall score for the next to classes which will count for the final.
