Show Jumper Georgina Bloomberg and Metropolitan Spotted on Live TV This Morning
Thursday, September 18, 2014 | Mary Phelps
International grand prix show jumper and hometown hero Georgina Bloomberg is set to compete in her hometown of New York City in this weekend’s Central Park Horse Show, presented by Rolex and produced by the Chronicle of the Horse magazine, along with a host of other top riders in show jumping, dressage, and polo. Bloomberg made an appearance on this morning’s Good Day New York, hosted by Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly on Fox’s WNYW, to help promote the event. Georgina’s horse, Metropolitan, was also on hand with Kelly and Scotto during the brief segment this morning. Metropolitan, a 14-year-old Selle Francais stallion, was groomed to perfection, with braids in his mane and oiled hooves, and he was also tacked up, as if ready for a ride through the streets of downtown New York. Bloomberg granted Kelly permission to climb aboard, but he opted out when Metropolitan started shifting around. While Metropolitan was representing his fellow equine show jumpers in the press, he will actually not be shown by Bloomberg this weekend. Bloomberg has several horses from which to choose from as she attempts to win the $210,000 Central Park Grand Prix. The event will be aired live on NBC Sports from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. EST on September 18, giving viewers the chance to root on their favorite show jumpers. This is the first time that horse sports has made it to a primetime slot on a major sports network. Visit http://www.nbcsports.com/tv-listings to find the channel for NBC Sports Network in your area.
