Rothenberger's Taking A Break
Thursday, February 25, 1999 | Mary Phelps
Sven Rothenberger will not be competing Jonggor’s Weyden at Indoor Brabant, in s’Hertogenbosch, NL. The injury incurred during the KWPN stallion approval day did not heal as quickly as expected. While back in light work, he is currently not in top condition. Now working in his father’s company, Rothenberger has less time to spend with with his horses. Sven’s wife, Gonnelien Gordijn-Rothenberger, also announced that she would not be showing in 1999, for a very different reason: she’s expecting her third child. Gonnelien has said that she has three wishes: to compete together with her husband in the Olympic Games, to breed a foal out of Olympic Bo and to have a large family. The last wish will be fulfilled in this August. In 2000 Gonnelien will be riding again for a place in the Dutch Olympic team.
