Queen Elizabeth's Horse Wins Cup at the Royal Windsor Horse Show
Sunday, May 16, 2010
Today, May 15, Queen Elizabeth's bay mare Stardust III and rider Katie Jerram won the ladies' sidesaddle contest at the Windsor Horse Show. The Windsor Horse Show has been run annually since 1945, and the Queen is a staunch supporter. Both the Queen and Prince Philip have competed and won at events in the past.
The Queen was photographed admiring the cup along with the rider, who wore a formal riding jacket and top hat. The Queen's outfit was practical and fitting to the country setting: She wore a signature bright headscarf, a green raincoat and strong shoes. Prince Philip was seen watching the proceedings from a distance, using binoculars.
This weekend has proved to be a sporty one for the British Royal Family. The Duchess of Cornwall was guest of honor at the Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo, held yesterday. Princess Beatrice was spotted at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, cheering on British drivers; Zara Phillips is competing at the Chatsworth horse trials, perhaps hoping to redeem her reputation after her disappointing results at Badminton Horse Trials two weeks ago. Additionally, Prince William presented soccer awards today.
