When Dr. Gordon Chang started Omega Alpha® Pharmaceuticals, Inc. 30 years ago, he was a biomedical engineer who wanted to bring the all-natural products benefiting human health and wellness communities to horses, to help them move, breathe and perform better, especially in the show arena where the stakes are always high. Enter the winning partnership between Omega Alpha® and the Equestrian Sport Productions (ESP) Annual Circuit at Wellington International, where the Ontario-based pharmaceutical leader continued its tradition of support through sponsoring four $5,000 1.35m Classic stakes during the top-ranked ESP Spring Series, April 6-May 15.

Shining Example

Among those shining examples of great health and performance were Counter Balance LLC’s Entano and rider/trainer Megan McDermott, who topped a field of 61 challengers in the ESP Spring 1 Omega Alpha 1.35m Classic with a sizzling -- 35.49 seconds – trip across the timers. The newly minted Omega Alpha-winning duo continued to keep good company overall, sharing their division championship tricolors with entries from Fiddlesticks Farms and RB Showjumping.

The most decisive jump-off among the Omega Alpha Classics during ESP Spring went to the Mexico City entry of John Perez Bohm and Juli Vainer’s Cazan, whose 38.774 second jump-off performance squarely established a nearly two-second spread ahead of closest challengers, Enrique Gonazalez and Baucis D’Ouilly.

High stakes and high-performance during ESP Spring 3 CSI3* promised a who’s who in its Omega Alpha 1.35m Classic as master horseman Hugh Mutch and M16 Master whittled 64 entries down to a two-tenths of a second decision in the jump-off (36.70) ahead of Dominique Roux and Casaktie (36.80).

The ESP Spring 5 Omega Alpha 1.35m Classic saw an international duel between Ireland’s David Blake and Nixon Van D’Abelendreef, and the Venezulean entry of Diego Javier Vivero Viteri and Eickendort Horses’ Quinn 33, who ultimately proved fastest to qualify and first in their jump-off (41.081) to claim the Omega Alpha Classic title.

Something that Works

Early into the 30-year success of his Omega Alpha® products, Dr. Chang observed, “A horse is an expensive investment. If you’re going to supplement an investment, you want something that works. That has separated Omega Alpha from the rest.”

And it has put horses and their riders -- like these 2022 ESP Spring Series Omega Alpha 1.35m Classic winners -- into a class all their own.

The ESP 2022 Summer Series is now underway at Wellington International and Omega Alpha® will continue its sponsorship support. Omega Alpha® takes pride in continuing to support equine athletes and is proud to announce the first two winners of the ESP Summer Series!

At the ESP June 1 horse show, Omega Alpha® was pleased to present the Omega Alpha award to 1.35m class winner, Ryan Genn riding VDL Genius T. Along with this pair, Sydney Levy riding Lovergon was also presented with the
Omega Alpha award but this time in the 1.15m Class at the ESP June 2 horse show at the Wellington International in Wellington, Florida. Congratulations to both riders on their winning rides and we look forward to presenting to the rest of the competition winners when the ESP Summer Series resumes in August.
