There is a new dressage show series in the heartland of the United States in Ohio, which is getting rave reviews from competitors, officials, judges, breeders, and sponsors. When Jenny Carol, creator of the National Dressage Pony Cup was looking for a home for the second annual competition, show manager Chris Federer of Cincinnati Dressage Tradition stepped up to offer their location, at the Roberts Arena, in Wilmington, Ohio, and their dates the last weekend in July creating a showcase for American pony breeders, trainers and riders to showcase a rapidly growing segment in the dressage world, which has long since been established in Europe as a premier event. So for Pony enthusiasts, as well as those competing in the regular Dressage performance and breed divisions, mark your calendars for 2010 for July 29-August 1, for the 2010 National Dressage Pony Cup and Cincinnati Dressage Tradition Breed and Performance show. The next breed and performance show at CDT will be this year September 18-20, and we will be there on the scene. Check out the facility!
Just as the USEF Pony Championships began as a small event which has grown into over 500 entries annually, the National Dressage Pony Cup, a private entity held the second annual event with a variety of pony breeds and levels being represented. “We are happy with the numbers this year,” said Carol, “in this economy we attracted ponies from several surrounding states, and hope for this event to become a truly National enterprise, with qualifiers throughout the country.” Additionally, for the first time in the United States, there was a USEF recognized Pony Only Breed division held along with two days of the breed show. Located in between Cincinnati and Columbus Ohio, the Roberts Arena which is home for many Quarter Horse events have over 500 stalls, several outdoor arenas with new footing, two indoor arenas, 91 camper spaces, paved parking lots, a restaurant and party hall. In addition there is full time securities, wash racks and bedding, show office and plenty if indoor and outdoor exhibitor space.
