What made you want to become a fitter? What made you want to be a Custom Saddlery fitter?
"Back in the day" as an aspiring young professional I struggled with all sorts of pads to get 1 saddle to fit every horse. When my family opened a tack shop 30 years ago, I became intimately familiar with the ins and outs/pros and cons of every brand and manufacturer. As we built the saddlery business it was a natural course to undertake the Society of Master Saddlers, UK training and credential certification. I'm also well versed in the saddlery philosophies of the major German, Italian and French companies. From a saddle fitters perspective Custom Saddlery offers multiple models and configurations for the comfort of the horse and rider. They are a forward thinking innovative company that is very responsive to strategic ways to best serve every level of horsemanship.
What do you love about your job?
Whilst I do love the variety in my days, what I really love is finding solutions, making a difference and seeing a horse and rider achieve the harmony that a properly fitted saddle can bring.
How long have you been working with Custom Saddlery?
I've been a saddle fitter for Custom Saddlery for 2 years, Qualified Saddle Fitter by the Society of Master Saddlers, UK for over a decade and in the industry 30+ years.
Do you own any horses? Do you compete your horse? What discipline? What Custom Saddle do you ride in?
I don't own any currently. My competitive nature resides in the dressage arena with a touch of eventing.
What do you like to do in your free time?
When I'm not in a barn, I enjoy training dogs, yoga, gardening, fishing and learning just about anything. Oh, and I'm a consummate foodie.
What is one of your most memorable moments working with Custom Saddlery?
My most memorable moments of working with Custom Saddlery are when a saddle just gloves onto a horse as if magnetized and the sweetest beaming smile on the rider when they realize everything they've been working on really is achievable because they no longer have a dysfunctional relationship with their saddle!
