COVID-19 resources - Notice of possible service delays
Please understand that response and call times may be longer than usual. We encourage you to take advantage of our online account portals to manage your policy, make a payment, and more. If you need to report a claim, you can do so immediately by submitting an online insurance claim form. We are committed to providing the best service we can and appreciate your patience during this time.

Markel Specialty is taking this pandemic very seriously, and our top priority remains taking appropriate measures to ensure the health and safety of our employees and their families, our trading partners and communities, while continuing to serve our valued policyholders. We have activated our business continuity plans across all of our operations, globally, to further ensure our ability to serve the needs of our stakeholders. Nearly all of our employees are now working remotely. We continue to monitor and follow the recommendations of health authorities and government officials globally, regionally and locally.

Markel Specialty recognizes a number of policyholders have been impacted and may be facing financial obstacles as a result of the actions being taken to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. For our policyholders who notify us they cannot pay their premiums due to events related to COVID-19, beginning March 27, 2020, we are initiating a temporary 60-day voluntary hold on cancellations and nonrenewal notices through May 31, 2020, or later as directed by state regulations. While we will continue to bill them for premiums, payments will be deferred. In addition Markel Specialty will not cancel for non-payment and will waive any late fees during this hold. In all cases, Markel Specialty is following state regulatory guidelines, which we continue to monitor and evaluate on a daily basis. We are also committed to working with policyholders with additional needs on a case-by-case basis.

Commercial policyholders needing assistance should contact their broker and direct policyholders should contact their agent or their designated Markel call center. Policyholders who believe they have a COVID-19 claim should contact Markel’s claims department, where claims teams are available to address their questions and claims. Please know that Markel Specialty is staying on top of our policyholders’ and trading partners’ needs and will work through these difficult times.

We've been around for 90 years and Markel has never been stronger than we are today. We're open for business and confident in our ability to operate during this time. We are here to support you and please reach out if there is anything further we can do for you. Please come back to check for further updates.

Markel remains committed to the equine industry and is dedicated to supporting a safe and healthy return from COVID shutdowns. Here you can find resource and guidance materials for horse and farm owners, riding instructors, trainers and equine boarding, breeding and show facilities to consider incorporating into your existing risk management plan as we all prepare to reopen.
