Koffler has been dedicated to dressage and the USDF on the local, regional, and national level for more than seven years. As her most recent contribution to dressage on the regional level, Koffler managed the 2003 Great American/USDF Region 2 Dressage Championships in conjunction with the East Central Cosequin/USDF Breeders' Championship Series Final, a competition that attracted more than 500 horses. On the national level, she is currently the chair of the USDF Development Committee and has been an integral part of developing the new USDF Advanced Young Rider Graduate Program in conjunction with the United States Equestrian Team.
Koffler has made significant contributions to dressage in the U.S. through her work at the Kentucky Horse Park, including playing an important role in the improvement of the dressage facilities there; spearheading the Kentucky Horse Park National Dressage Symposium; and helping USDF forge its relationship with the horse park, the future home of the USDF National Education Center. Koffler is past president of the Kentucky Dressage Association and vice president for dressage of the Mid-South Eventing and Dressage Association. Her daughters, Reese and Lindsey, have been members of the Region 2 North American Young Riders' Championships dressage team for the past several years.
The Volunteer of the Year award was developed as a means of recognizing one outstanding USDF member who has devoted at least 25 hours of service during the year on any dressage-related project at the local, regional, or national level. Sponsored by Great American Insurance Group, the title sponsor of the USDF Regional Dressage Championships, all members who have participated in the Great American/USDF Regional Championships in some capacity, whether as a competitor, official, or volunteer, are eligible for the award.
