With an Olympic year looming, the high cost of high performance is on the rise. Here is how Shirley McQuillan the breeder and owner the American bred Rhett (x R. Johnson) campaigned by Jim Koford has initiated fund raising with an on-line Facebook Auction. McQuillan, a breeder of American bred Dutch warmbloods in Versailles, KY, and famed equine chiropractor, spends much of her time at the racetrack and yearling sales, travelling throughout Kentucky and on the road during the Triple Crown, and Breeders’ Cup, working overtime to support the Olympic Dream for Koford and Rhett. The pair has paid their dues training and competing in Europe, and then bringing it home in 2011 to shine in the FEI arena. The donation list, just in time for holiday shopping, continues to grow featuring original art, bronze sculptures, some Kentucky highlights, and most recently a breeding to Shooting Star Farm’s Donatelli.
Check out the donations and the Facebook page for the auction which will close December 15.Jim Koford's Benefit Auction began November 10 and will run through December 15 on Facebook.

“We are delighted that the community has stepped up for Jim,” noted Shirley McQuillan. “This means so much to us, especially given the current economy. We have wonderful items donated from around the United States and from the different disciplines.”

The group hopes to raise at least $5,000, which would be seed money for the upcoming 2012 season.

“We have an excellent shot at potentially sending one American-bred horse, Rhett (R. Johnson) to the Olympics and to Europe,” continues McQuillan. “The pair embody American dressage, and the very best of what can be done through community efforts.”
