Junior Dressage Training Camp With Nancy Later Lavoie at Ashby Stock Farm
Thursday, June 9, 2016
A specialized training camp designed for children from the ages of 8 - 16 with a specific interest to compete in Dressage will be held at the beautiful Ashby Stock Farm, Ashby, Massachussetts Monday June 27 - Saturday July 2, 2016. This is an exciting opportunity for your child to experience Dressage in its at its' best. The camp provides theory and practical riding lessons, private and group. The children will also be coached in horsemanship, nutrition, fitness, and elements of competition as well as video review sessions.
Nancy Later Lavoie a long time Young Rider coach, mentor, and supporter will be the instructor with additional guest instructors as well as Young Rider mentors available throughout the week.
This program is meant to help grow a foundation in Dressage enthusiasts that can be built on through the years toward Junior and Young Rider competition. Children do not have to have the desire to compete at a high level in dressage to be welcomed in camp. This camp will also provide a good basic for all horse sports as well as horse care.
This will be an opportunity for children to meet other children that have the same passion as they do. It will also provide an opportunity for parents to meet and discuss tactics and strategies involved in the successful negotiation of such a sport.
The step by step of the levels as well as the details in Region 8 and with USDF for
championships and children/pony/junior and young rider divisions will be explained.
Special arrangements can be made for children and horses/ponies to be dropped of on Sunday if necessary.
Saturday, July 2 will be parent’s day with a small show and demonstration followed by a group lunch.
First priority will be given to children with their own (or leased) ponies or horses. There will be one or two horses available for children that do not have a horse they can bring. There will also be the possibility for the mentors to bring a horse for the duration of the camp.
The first camp will be held Monday June 27 - Saturday July 2, 2016
