At 29 years old, Jessica secured her place on the prestigious Team USA jumping team. She competed alongside accomplished athletes such as two-time gold medalist McLain Ward, silver medalist Kent Farrington, and gold medalist Laura Kraut. The Olympic Games commenced on July 23rd, marking a pivotal moment in her journey.

The COVID Olympics was an unprecedented competition with no one in the stands but coached and fellow athletes. Following the team jumping event at Equestrian Park, Jessica shared her excitement with her family via FaceTime. Her mother, Patti Scialfa, expressed her pride on Instagram, congratulating the US equestrian jumping team.

She explained their long-standing encouragement of her equestrian pursuits, noting their shared passion for the sport. She emphasized the family’s collective journey and expressed her happiness about her Olympic selection.

The Early Days

Jessica’s involvement in equestrian activities began in childhood. As documented by her United States Equestrian Federation profile, she started her competitive riding career at age five. In a 2019 CNN interview, she reflected on the integral role riding played in her upbringing, emphasizing the stability it provided.
