This year, Rumbough and JR are earning wins at Third Level. On the opening day of the GCDA Opener they took the win in the Third Level Test 1 Adult Amateur class with a score of 64.872 percent. Rumbough continued her winning ways with Winnie Too in Training Level competition on opening day at the Wellington Classic Spring Challenge with her six-year-old American Warmblood mare Winnie Too. Both horses are sired by Rumbough's PRE stallion Gaucho.
"And I rode badly today, but she still put up with me, poor thing," Rumbough said of Winnie Too. "She was such a sweetheart." Rumbough said she was quite proud of JR, particularly because he had a slightly traumatic moment during competition. "A mare went by that he seemed to think was Winnie and he was so worried because she got on a trailer. He thought it was her and she was leaving without him," Rumbough said with a laugh.
Is Rumbough aiming for a second year of winning the Amateur Winter Dressage Championships? You bet. "Yes, I want to win it again. I think a lot of amateurs are really trying for it and I think it's wonderful that they have this award for amateurs. We do appreciate it," she said. "I like to support it and it's nice for my horses if I win and can say they are winners of such an award. But, I'll have to ride better than I think I did today because you have to be consistent at several shows to win it." It's early in the winter season but Rumbough seems already to have proven that she is consistently in the winner's circle.
