Insurance: What You Need to Know When Hosting a Clinic

Hello everyone! This has been coming up more often so I thought I would provide a bit more information. If you own or operate a facility and you would like to host a clinic, the clinician that you are bringing in, needs to have there own liability policy. You need to ask them to provide you with a Certificate of Insurance (COI) showing proof of coverage. You then need to contact your agent and provide them with the clinic dates, and then forward the clinicians COI to your agent. If all of this occurs, you are then…good to go!
If your clinician does not have their own liability coverage (and this is quit often the case), then in order for them to conduct the clinic on your premises, you must add them to your policy. You will need to provide your agent with their full name, date of birth and a quick bio of their experience. You will be charged an additional premium to add them on to your policy - generally between $100-$200 depending on the state and the limits of your liability coverage.
Hosting a clinic with a well-known trainer can be a great way to bring in new clients to your facility. When sitting down and figuring out the cost associated with hosting a clinic, please do not forget, to include any costs passed on to you by your Insurance Company to cover this exposure.
