Several of the horses that Diana has imported have been very successful. Dora Dean, of Woodinville WA rides a horse named Sapphire, by Sherlock Holmes, that Diana imported as a five-year-old four years ago. They are now competing successfully at the Grand Prix level.
Windfactor, by Werther owned by Shawna Pinneo of Monroe , WA and ridden by Morgan Barrows is the 4th Level freestyle champion for 2004. He has scores in the 70's at PSG.
According to Vines, Diana has imported over 20 horses to the Seattle area in the past few years, seven of which are currently in the top ten for the horse of the year finals in the area. “She is able to pick horses out and ship them over here because she has a natural, intuitive feeling for the horse and whether it sill suit a particular rider. She sends horses that have amazing temperaments, and people trust her enough to buy horses that she has tried off of videos.”
Though she used to import horses from the Netherlands too, most of Diana’s import business is now through Germany. This has developed over the past seven years or so, and she speaks German ‘well enough to get through the riding world.’
“I continue to find horses in Europe for people because I have good connections with people that I can trust,” she said. “That can be a problem for people to find. There are several farms where I have purchased a number of horses over the years where I can count on an honest profile of the horse that I am considering for purchase. This is why I continue to return to these places.”
