Traverse City, MI - April 17, 2015 - Horse Sports by the Bay, Inc., producers of Horse Shows by the Bay, is pleased to announce that Stadium Jumping, Inc., has acquired the United States Equestrian Federation licenses to produce horse shows in Traverse City from July 1-26 that will be called the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.

Alex Rheinheimer, the owner and manager of HSBB, said, "I'm pleased that the tradition of horse shows in Traverse City has found in Stadium Jumping and its owner, Michael Morrissey, a promoter with a terrific reputation and national experience. The region is in good hands for years to come. It was a difficult decision to move on from Traverse City, but that decision is easier knowing that Stadium Jumping has expanded its presence to Michigan, and I'm confident that Traverse City will be well-served by the change."

Morrissey mirrored the sentiment. "Stadium Jumping is very excited about expanding its operations to this part of the world, where the enthusiasm of the community and the horse owners is apparent," he said. "We come on the heels of over a decade of exceptional and award-winning shows by HSBB and look forward to meeting the high standards that the community has come to expect."

The USEF played a pivotal role in the transition, and Rheinheimer and Morrissey reiterated that the parties' agreement reflected "USEF's unwavering commitment to advancing the best interests of the exhibitors and competition calendar, as well as equestrian sports in general."

From 2004-14, Rheinheimer, Horse Shows by the Bay founder, and her dedicated team of professionals produced one of the most popular summer show circuits in the country. HSBB hosted thousands of horses annually from across the country and regularly received the industry's top awards.

For four consecutive years, the HSBB Hunter/Jumper series placed in the North American Riders Group Top 25 ranking list and was chosen by the United States Hunter Jumper Association membership as the Best "AA" Horse Show in Zone 5. Additionally, the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame included Horse Shows by the Bay as a Top 10 Hunter Show in 2013.

Over the course of the decade, Horse Sports By the Bay, Inc., also produced rated USDF/USEF dressage shows and NRHA-sanctioned reining events in Traverse City, bringing horsemen of many disciplines together to enjoy top competition in a resort atmosphere.

"I'm happy for the local community that top-level equestrian sport will remain in Northern Michigan," said Rheinheimer. "I can't thank everyone enough, including all of our staff, exhibitors, sponsors and fans for supporting me and 'Team Horse Shows by the Bay' all of these years. It certainly takes a lot of dedication and perseverance from so many to be as successful as we were. For everyone's unwavering commitment, I will forever be grateful and humbled."

Rheinheimer, a USEF R-rated Jumper judge, will continue to officiate and manage horse shows in Michigan and nationwide, and she looks forward to producing the Hunter-Jumper Association of Michigan annual spring shows at the Waterloo Hunt Club, April 28-May 18, 2015.
