Lake Placid, NY - If you're looking for a fun and educational way to "horse around" this summer, then you'll want to check out the 22nd annual Horse Club Junior Day, sponsored by Hannaford Supermarkets, at the Lake Placid Horse Shows, presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC., on Friday, July 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. "Our Olympic champions didn't get to where they are now overnight," said Richard M. Feldman, Chairman of the Lake Placid Horse Show Association. The day includes activities such as a stable tour, jump course walk, farrier visit, and question-and-answer period. There will also be a raffle, giveaways, and an autograph session with a top Grand Prix rider. The day continues a long-standing tradition of the Lake Placid Horse Shows giving back to the local community.

There is no entry fee for chaperones; however, there will be a fee of $4.00 per chaperone if they choose to eat with the participants. Reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. The 45th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC will host three weeks of horse show competition this year for the first time ever, running June 24 -July 13. The new footing will be installed in all dirt rings - including both Hunter Rings, the Jumper Annex, and all warm-up rings - with the horse shows' famed all-grass Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field  remaining the same.

One of the premier stops on the nation's hunter-jumper horse show circuit, the Lake Placid Horse Shows feature the nation's best horses and riders competing in four show rings. The horse show features more than 100 classes of competition each week, hosting all levels of competition ranging from young children on ponies to grand prix competitors and Olympic medalists. All three weeks are USEF 'AA' rated for hunters and 6* rated for Jumpers.

Installing the new footing will be Equestrian Services International (ESI), which has installed footing at some of the nation's leading horse shows including the Devon Horse Show, Hampton Classic, Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg and the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. ESI has also provided footing for many leading international horse shows in Europe, South America and Asia including World Cup Finals in Leipzig and Dusseldorf, Germany and the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong.

"ESI has proven that it is second to none when it comes to world-class footing that is the absolute best for horses and riders," said Feldman. "We did our research and we've made the commitment to go with the best."
