Calling all pony fans: the National Dressage Pony Cup (NDPC) and Small Horse Championship Show is right around the corner! This year’s 12th anniversary event is being held July 19-21 at Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL., but time is running out for you to be a part of this incredible event: the closing date for entries is this Wednesday, July 3rd!

The National Dressage Pony Cup and Small Horse Championship Show has become a destination event for competitors from across the country. Why? Riders of all ages aboard a wide variety of talented ponies and small horses pursue the Pony Cup’s famously-stunning array of awards presented from the Intro Level to Grand Prix, all while enjoying an atmosphere and camaraderie unlike any other show in the country as dressage enthusiasts come together to celebrate how “height doesn’t measure heart.”

A member of that enthusiastic group will be Christine Baker, a German Riding Pony breeder in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. As the owner of Branley Ash Sportponies, Baker will prepare to travel 14 hours to Lamplight for her very first National Dressage Pony Cup Championship Show, where she will cheer on her young Westfalen stallion Deja D’Or as he competes with rider Emmanuelle Lord at both First and Second Levels, as well as in the Five-Year-Old Futurity. The talented pair have prepared for the occasion by competing at the Ottawa Dressage Festival in mid-May, one of the NDPC’s expansive network of international Partner Shows, where they were crowned Champions of the Pony Cup division.

“A friend of mine told me about the Pony Cup programs, and since I breed ponies for dressage, naturally I think this is a FANTASTIC thing for the ponies I aim to produce,” said Baker. “Now I try to have at least one pony competing in as many of the NDPC Partner Shows in my area as possible – I had two ponies at Ottawa Dressage and they were first and second all weekend long! And now I’m really looking forward to hopefully coming to Lamplight for our first Championship show with Deja D’Or. I have another pony stallion that is actively breeding as well as competing so this year he can't come, but next year I plan on having both boys (and possibly more) there!”

There’s still time to be a part of the country’s premier showcase for dressage ponies! But hurry – the closing date for entries for the 2019 National Dressage Pony Cup & Small Horse Championship Show is this Wednesday, July 3rd.
