Oklahoma City, Okla., - The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is proud to announce the newest champions crowned at this year’s Adequan North American Affiliate Championships. With a score of 213.5, Adequan NAAC Limited Non Pro Co-Champions, Holly Valerio and her 6-year-old gelding Soula Doulla (Soule Jule Star x Prittie Gallitia x Gallo Del Cielo), made it back to the winner’s circle by claiming the Adequan NAAC Novice Horse Non Pro Level 2 championship.

“This is just great because I only ride about three days a month. Mack Weaver, my trainer, is all about consistency and I guess it truly does pay off,” said Holly who also qualified for the Rookie finals. “The reason that I have so little time to ride is that I have three children; Isaiah (18), McKenzie (16) and Dawson (11) and that I also have a day job. I am a day care provider, I watch ten to fifteen children a day, so my release is running to Mack’s and enjoying my horse back time!”

Holly qualified at the Northwest Affiliate Regional Championship and rode for the Great Western Reining Horse Association.

Earning the reserve championship, a half a point behind the winners, were Amber Schafer and her Benjamin Banjo, a 6-year-old gelding by Banjo Whiz and out of Lil Ruff Jessie (by Lil Ruf Peppy). “I’ve had Banjo for about three years and he’s what you call a phenomenal show horse. I am really lucky to have had the opportunity to show him all this time,” stated Amber following the awards presentation. “He is such a solid and true horse every time I go in the pen and today was just icing on top of the cake! I do a lot of the work with him at home, and I have really good friends who I ride with every day, Jerry and Judy Mathews. Occasionally we go over to Sean Johnson’s for extra help. I truly thank Jerry for all his help, I wouldn’t have made it here without him!”

Amber qualified at the South Central Affiliate Regional Championship and rode for the Arkansas Reining Horse Association. Third place honors went to the NAAC Novice Horse Non Pro Level 1 Champions, Lacy Zimmerman and ARC Chics Sparkle.
