Great Britain bagged team gold ahead of the hosts from Germany in silver and Team Denmark in bronze at the FEI Dressage European Championship 2023 in Riesenbeck, Germany today.
In the battle for the three qualifying spots for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it was Austria, Belgium and Spain who booked their tickets when filling seventh, eighth and ninth places respectively.
The victorious British side of Gareth Hughes (Classic Briolinca), Carl Hester (Fame), Charlotte Dujardin (Imhotep) and Lottie Fry (Glamourdale) completed on a score of 242.220 when taking the best three scores into account. And it was Fry who clinched it with her last-to-go ride for her country.
Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl posted the biggest score of the day with her Olympic star TSF Dalera BB when putting 84.612 on the board, but the defending team champions’ final tally of 239.674 saw them having to settle for silver this time around, ahead of Denmark in bronze on 228.727.
