rker, CO— Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals, a Canadian-based producer of naturally formulated equine supplements, has been showing its support of the equestrian community by serving as an official sponsor of the Colorado Horse Park in Parker, Colorado this summer.
Omega Alpha is promoting top quality horse care by presenting the Omega Alpha Healthy Horse Award once a week at each dressage, eventing, and hunter/jumper show. The award is given to horses that stand out for their healthy appearance, exhibiting hallmarks of excellent health and fitness such as proper muscling, a shiny coat, and a good attitude.
The two most recent Healthy Horse Award winners, selected during Week IV and Week V of the seven-week hunter/jumper Summer in the Rockies show series, were presented with an embroidered cooler, a commemorative ribbon, and a prize bucket full of Omega Alpha products to keep them healthy throughout the show season and beyond.
The Omega Alpha Healthy Horse Award winner during Week IV was The Governor, a seven-year-old Warmblood gelding ridden by Hunter Holloway. Based out of Topeka, Kansas, Holloway has had the ride on The Governor, owned by Hays Investment Corp., for a little over a year. The beautifully fit horse, with his excellent musculature and shiny dapple gray coat, won the Omega Alpha Healthy Horse Award during the same week that he and Holloway claimed the blue ribbon in the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby.
“I was pretty happy with The Governor’s entire performance in that class,” said Holloway. “I think he really showed off his skills.” Holloway and her mother, top horse producer Brandie Holloway, imported The Governor from Europe last year and have been training him with aspirations to compete him at the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals in Lexington, Kentucky, later this summer.
The Governor’s prize of Omega Alpha supplements came just in time for The Governor to start gearing up for the Finals. “I look forward to trying out the Omega Alpha products I won, and I hope that they can add to the health of our horses,” said Holloway.

The Week V winner of the Omega Alpha Healthy Horse Award was Ruby Lane, a six-year-old Warmblood mare owned and bred by Molly Graham and trained by Alex Wilson. Graham, who runs a sales barn with Wilson in Los Angeles, California, described Ruby Lane as “definitely a chestnut mare!” The horse’s fiery attitude is matched by her flashy appearance, and she caught the eye of the show committee while competing in hunter classes.
“This is the first time we’ve been out at this horse show before, and it was nice to know that we are on the right track and doing the right things,” said Graham. “It made me so happy to win the Omega Alpha Healthy Horse Award!” Graham and Wilson work hard to keep Ruby Lane in top condition, from careful grooming to excellent nutrition. Having previously used Omega Alpha Gastra-FX™ for a horse that used to suffer stress when trailering, Graham is looking forward to trying other supplements from her prize bucket that will keep her horses healthy from the inside out. “What these products do is important — it’s important not just to keep our horses looking healthy and shiny but to try to keep their insides as healthy as we can,” she said.
Omega Alpha was proud to reward both pairs of horses and riders for maintaining excellent health through proper care and nutrition. In addition to presenting the Healthy Horse Award, Omega Alpha is the presenting sponsor of the Preliminary Eventing division at the Colorado Horse Park this summer and is also hosting its popular Omega Alpha Best Barn Manager of the Season contest. Nominations for outstanding barn managers may be made throughout the summer at one of two ballot boxes conveniently located in the show office or at the on-site Colorado Horse Park Feed & Supply Store, where Omega Alpha products are available for purchase. The winning barn manager will receive a beautiful bit box, his or her choice of Omega Alpha products, and a dinner out for two.
