First American Anthem for Dr Cesar Parra

Saturday, June 6, 2009

Former Columbian Dr Cesar Parra had an incredible weekend at the CDI-W Raleigh at the Pentecost weekend. In the first CDI for the pair, he won two classes, scoring 69,386% for his win in Prix St Georges and 68,684% for his win in Intermediate I. Dr Parra showed Dutch gelding Olympia by Jazz, owned by Dr. Lori Washton. Cesar Parra felt really emotional when he heard the American anthem playing for him, being a new American.  “I have only been riding Olympia for a short time, but he is a very special horse”, Cesar Parra explained.

“It was my first opportunity to show for the USA. At the awards ceremony for the Prix St Georges some members of my team surprised me by having American flags. When the anthem began to play I was very emotional. The road to getting my citizenship was long and hard. I have realized what a big dream it is to switch and to ride for the USA. I cannot describe in words the amount of pride I was carrying with me. It was such an honor to be representing this great country! I can’t tell how excited I am for the future…”
