Final Central European League Warsaw: Rapcewicz Qualified

Monday, March 23, 2009

In Warsaw the final of the Central European League was held. Not all competitors did answer to the rules of having competed in two qualifiers including one in a foreign country. Therefore the field of competitors was more restricted than was hoped for. Polish Katarzyna Milczarek and Michal Rapcewicz challenged each other the most. Polish judge Wojtek Markowski explains:

“Katarzyna’s horse is step by step improving through the practice at foreign horse shows. In Grand Prix she had better collective marks than Michael and a very good piaffe. This made the competition very exciting. Both had very good Freestyle tests. Katarzyna had a nice passage but some mistakes in the one tempi changes. Michael had great two tempi changes and some small mistakes too, like in a pirouette. His test was more difficult overall. Leif Törnblad and me decided for Michael, the other three judges for Katarzyna.”

Michael Rapcewizc did win two World Cup™ qualifiers before. In the end he was the one to receive the card for the Central European League. Judge Markowski explains: “Katarzyna’s horse Ekwador is only nine years old. She feels this is too young for the exhausting trip to Las Vegas. We also have great hopes in Poland for a national team for this year’s European Championships in Windsor as we have two more horses and riders to come. Therefore Katarzyna will concentrate now on preparations for the Windsor European’s, while more experienced and matured Randon and Rapcewicz are very happy to travel to Las Vegas to the FEI World Cup™ Final next month first.”
