Euro Dressage News Notes - Inge Theodorescu Passed Away

Renowned dressage rider Inge Theodorescu passed away after a long illness on Sunday 11 April 2010. She was 84 years old. Inge Theodorescu was first married to world famous show jumper Hans Gunter Winkler and later on to legendary dressage trainer Georg Theodorescu. She is the mother of the multiple Olympic team gold medallist Monica Theodorescu. Between the 1950s and 1970s she was one of the best riders in Germany. She competed on the German team twice, showed in the Hamburg Show Jumping Derby three times and thrice won the blue ribbon in the dressage derby. To date Inge Theodorescu is the only woman every to have ridden both the dressage and show jumping derby.
At the Lindenhof in Sassenberg, Germany, Inge Theodorescu trained dressage horses together with her husband Georg and daughter Monica. She took care of the farm when the rest of the family was on the road to competitions. She will be greatly missed.

Scampolo Top Priced Horse at 2010 Verden Spring Elite Auction
Scampolo achieved the top knock down price at the 2010 Hanoverian Spring Elite Auction in Verden, Germany. A Westfalian based dressage stable acquired Franz Blaser's Sir Donnerhall x Weltmeyer x Abajo xx son for 127,000 euro. The black stallion Santander Hit (by Sandro Hit x Weltmeyer x Aarking xx) sold for 90,000 euro to a Hamburg dressage stable. The 6-year old licensed stallion Lehmann (by Londonderry x Argentinus) sold for 88,000 euro to same stable. American dressage fans bought the dark bay mare Romanze K (by Riedinger x Davignon x Weltmeyer) for 51,000 euro while Blue Hors stud acquired Darnell (by Don Frederico x Waikiki x Western Stern) for 50,000 euro.
