Save the date of Saturday June 22nd for a couple of very worthy causes! This Saturday the Riders4Helmets International Awareness Day will take place with retailers and manufactures are joining forces with a Riders4Helmets "Get Educated" webinar that offer a huge assortment of experts for an educational day! Also on Saturday we have the PDVA Ride for Life event will be taking place with benefits going to the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center with the goal of $100,000 for 2013! Jamie Fell is a lady that unfortuantley knows cancer all to well has done a catch up with DressageDaily on her courageous fight with breast cancer. Another survivor of sorts is a young man named Sam Martin who was rescued from gangs by none other than our favorite sport of dressage! Last but not least what are your options if you were unable to feed your favorite hay? Find out here!There is lots going on this weekend including the PVDA Ride for Life in Upper Marlboro, VA to benefit the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. Elsewhere in the south we have the NCDCTA Summer Highland Fling in Tryon, NC, and the Meadow Lake Mid-Summer Classic I and II in Bryantsville, KY. Heading up north we have the Cayuga Dressage and CT, Inc. in Horseheads, NY, the University of New Hampshire Dressage Show in Durham, NH, and the Centerline Events @ Westbrook Hunt Club in Westbrook, CT. The mid west has the IDCTA Summer Kickoff Dressage Show in Wayne, IL, the Sorensen Park Dressage June III in East Troy, WI, the Dressage Derby of Ohio in Painesville, OH, the Indy Dressage Classic I and II in Edinburgh, IN and the Dressage at Les Bois I and II in Eagle, ID. Heading out west we have the Sage Creek I and II in Heber City, UT. on the west coast we start in the northern area with Washington state with the Whidbey Equestrian Center June Dressage in Coupeville and the Letter Perfect Dressage in Ridgefield. California is cranking with several competitions including the Steppin' into Summer Dressage in West Covina, the Dressage at Mission Pacific in Somis, the Gavilan Chapter June Show in San Juan Bautista, the CHR Summer Solstice Dressage I and II in Ramona, the Cascade Dressage I and II in Tulelake, the Dressage Derby IV in Vacaville and the Capistrano Summer Series in San Juan Capistrano!

It is that time of year again! The Riders4Helmets International Helmet Awareness Day is coming June 22, 2013 and it is going to be a huge day of learning as well as being able to get discounts on helmets! The campaign was founded in 2010 as a direct result of Olympian Courtney King-Dye's accident when a young horse tripped while she was riding without a helmet with the aim of educating equestrians on the benefits of wearing a properly fitting and certified helmet. There will be a "Get Educated" webinar starting at 8 am and you can check out here to get info!


Also for a good cause - the 10th Anniversary of the Dancing Horse Challenge with take place this weekend in conjunction with the PVDA Ride for Life show! The benefit is held for the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center and the events goal is to raise $100,000 in 2013 having donated $75,000 after the 2012 event! Jamie Fell is a dressage trainer of the upmost determination and courage. Jamie was diagnosed with breat cancer and has been blogging about her journey through treatment. While she sent her young horses to various trainers, her small tour horse was a source of comfort and she has continued to work everyday. She speaks of what she has been through and learned along the way. Check out what Jamie has written as she catches up with DressageDaily!

A young boy in the south of London was on the streets handling drugs and stolen property for gangs, too scared to not do what was told by gang members. Then he discovers horses, gets a job mucking stalls to get him away from all the trouble. Now this young boy is a man climbing to the top training his very own horse under the tutelage of British Olympic star Carl Hester. Now Sam Martin is hoping to earn a place on the 2014 Rio Olympic team! Read his story here and see the power of horses to heal people!
