The 2013 Bundeschampionate took place this past weekend in Warendorf Germany - chack out the coverage! The inagural USDF Sport Horse Prospect Development Forum will take place this weekend with Scott Hassler and Ingo Pape! Charlotte Dujardin has taken over the FEI World Ranking with the number 1 spot after her ace performance at the 2013 Europeans. TheHorse.com has a great article hihglighting a study of the stress on horses during travel. Fall is here so when time for those fall vaccinations be aware that West Nile Virus has shown up in 23 states so far this year...This is the time of the year that the fall championships are getting underway. We have two this week with the USDF Southeast Breeders Championship Series Final Deep South Dressage & CTA Northwest Florida Chapter Florida Classic IV in Cottondale, FL and the GSEC Platinum Classic I & USDF Breeders Championship Qualifier I in Katy, TX . Elsewhere we have the VADA/NOVA Autumn I in Leesburg, VA, the Border Line Dressage in Tryon, NC, the The Good Horseman/Massey Ferguson Fall Dressage Show in Conyers, GA in the south. We also have the Silverwood Dressage September in Camp Lake, WI and the Harmony in the Park Fall Dressage I and II in Edinburgh, IN in the mid west. Texas has the Yellow Rose Festival I and II in Irving and the GSEC Platinum Classic I & USDF Breeders Championship Qualifier I in Katy. California has the Del Mar International Dressage in Del Mar, CA and in paradise we have the Aloha State Dressage Society (ASDS) VII and VIII in Waimanalo, HI.

The 2013 Bundeschampionate was held in Warendorf Germany September 4-9, 2013. Once again some of the finest young horses came together in Germany and competed for the coveted title of Champion for their age division. Not only was the event hihglighted with outstanding young stock strutting their stuff but on Saturday night 12 Grand Prix riders, including but not limited to Monica Theodorescu, Helen Langehanenberg and Hubertus Schmidt, performed a Grand prix quadrille celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the DOKR (German Olympic Equestrian Committee). The inagural USDF Sport Horse Prospect Development Forum – presented by Dressage at Devon is this coming weekend September 14-15, 2013 where a talented group of 10 horse and rider teams will converge at Apple Knoll Farm in Millis, MA. The forum is supported by Hassler Dresssage and the NEDA and will be led by the USEF National Young Horse Coach, Scott Hassler and Germany's reknowed breeder Ingo Pape. Charlotte Dujardin has once again taken over the FEI World Dressage Rankings this month taking the top spot from last month's leader Adelinde Cornelissen. After she and Valegro's record breaking performances at the Blue Hors FEI European Dressage Championships the duo climbed back to the top of the rankings. Helen Langehanenberg and her fabulous Damon Hill NRW slid into 2nd ahead of Adelinde. Check out all the rankings here!

TheHorse.com has an indebt article where Carolyn Stull, MS, PhD, of UC Davis and Anne Rodiek, MS, PhD, emeritus professor at California State University, Fresno, teamed up to study the physiology of horses both during transport and recovery. A group of 15 mature horses were studied over a 24 hour period of road transport followed by a 24 hour recovery where they were stall rested to be able to tell how quickly recovery occured. Read more here in detail about the study and what the researchers found that may be helpful to you if you frequently transport your equine friend!

As you consider your fall shot updates from your veterinarian be sure to talk over with them if you should get a West Nile Virus booster. The disease is on a slow rise with 64 confirmed cases being reported in 23 states so far in the United States. Recent cases have been reported from California all the way to the east coast in Delaware with several places in between.
