The 2013 Children of the Americas Dressage Invitational (CADI) recently took place in Concord, MA where young riders from the U.S., Canada, Cayman, Ecuador, Jamaica, Bermuda, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago compete on borrowed horses. The young riders are fully in charge of the horses (picked from a draw at the beginning of the week) and are given a trainer to work with and then at the end of the week they compete in the CADI FEI Preliminary Dressage test and a Freestyle. Read more about the competition and check out how three young ladies from the Caymans made an outstanding showing.

Professor Jan Ladewig of Copenhagen University recently addressed delegates at the annual conference of the International Society for Equitation Science in the United States about the importance of the basic social, physiological and psychological needs of the horse to be with other horses and be turned out. He talked about how great emphasis is put on training and riding but the quality of “the other 23 hours a day” is of equal importance, Ladewig suggests. Read More on his talk here!
