The United States Equestrian Team is hosting "Prancing with the Stars" as a fundraising event at the "Solid Gold" Benefit Dinner for the 2014 World Equestrian Games athletes and High Performance Programs and pre-bidding is underway on five great items! The powerhouse German A-team has a new member - see who made it to the big time (and hopes to make it to the 2014 World Equestrian Games)! When your horse has the dreaded condition of colic, do you know if it is severe enough to need surgery? Thinking of getting an off the track Thoroughbred? Check out a great article on some of the physical things to consider when looking. Speaking of Thoroughbreds...there is a racing barn in Southern, CA that has incorporated dressage into it's training program and they have one fancy (and the baby sister of a very famous filly!!) that led the way!As the country is starting to thaw, from arguably one of the toughest winters in sometime, there are a couple of regions that are beginning their show season. In the south we have the Twice as Nice Dressage II in Newberry, FL, the Global Dressage Festival 9 in Wellington, FL, the Ocala Spring Dressage in Orlando, FL and the Poplar Place Farm March Dressage Show in Hamilton, GA. On the west coast we have the Spring into Dressage in Boring, OR and California rounds out this week with the CDS San Diego Mid-Winter Show in Del Mar and the Yarra Yarra Dressage February I in Pleasanton.

Pre-Bidding is now open for 5 fabulous items being offered at the United States Equestrian Federation's event "Prancing with the Stars"! Bidding opened March 5, 2014 for a Cruise Around Manhatten, 2015 World Cup Dressage Finals, 2014 World Young Horse Championships, a visit to the set of the hit T.V. show "Brooklyn 99" and a complete Head-to-Toe Dressage Outfit with a VERY special item from Olympian Robert Dover!! Pre-bidding closes March 15, 2014. Check out the details of the items here!

The powerhouse German dressage A-team has a new memeber with the addition of Jessica von Bredow-Werndl. Jessica has been on a steady rise riding Beatrice Burchler-Keller's 14-year old Dutch warmblood stallion Unee BB (by Gribaldi x Dageraad). With the promotion she is now eligible for a team nomination for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy. Read more about her rise at Eurodressage.com.

DressageDaily.com has a wonderful article that troubleshoots whether your horse is a candidate for colic surgery. David W. Ramey DVM explains how he looks at the horse when evalutaing it during an episode of colic. He list out the indicators and syptoms going over each one explaining each one and if that particular symptom means surgery. Check it out here!

There are lots of fancy Warmbloods strutting their stuff in dressage arenas everywhere but some riders may only be able to afford (or choose to rescue) an off the track Thorougbred to train. The Horse's Back is an online site that has a very detailed and informative article about the physical issues that ex racehorses sometimes are plagued with and discusses the issues in depth. Check it out if you are even thinking about taking on an off the track project (many are soooo worth it!)

Most all dressage rider's have said that dressage will benefit any equestrian sport and it seems that one Southern California racing barn has jumped on board! Eblouissante is the little sister of Zenyatta (2008-2010 Champion Older Female and also the 2010 Horse of the Year in US racing). When she went into her training barn a new excercise rider arrived as well that had a very strong foundation in dressage. Read about how she started her dressage training here!
