More outstanding dressage shows are coming up this week with the US's only CDI5* competition in Florida, a CDI3* in California and the Sydney CDI3* on the way! The offical FEI start list for the World CUp Dressage Final has been released. With all the beautiful freestyles performed at these CDI's, have you ever wondered how to do one for your own horse? There is interesting breeding news out of Europe and a country music legend comes to the rescue of two starved and neglected horses...Florida is a very busy place this weekend with several shows staged across the state with the highlight of the 5* West Palm Beach CDI in Wellington which is the countries only 5* CDI! There are also 3 other important competitions with the Dressage At Equestrian Estates & IHS Blue Hors Invitational in Loxahatchee, the Heidelburg Cup I and II in Apopka and the GDF National 2 in Wellington! California also has its fair share of activity with the Festival of the Horse in San Juan Capistrano, the Dressage In Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara and the Greenville Equestrian Center Dressage in Livermore. Elsewhere we have the Lake Erie Dressage Prix De Ville in Concord Twp, OH, the Kansas City Dressage Society 32nd KCDS Kickoff Competition in Kansas City, MO, the ADA Spring Celebration in Scottsdale, AZ, the Bunny Hop Dressage in Hernando, MS and the Topsider Farm Dressage I in College Station, TX.


This weekends show scene marches on with more Olympic qualifying competition at the only 5* in the US at the 5* West Palm Beach in Wellington, FL. California will also be a focal point with the Festival of the Horse CDI3* event that will take place in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Excitement keeps building as the shows will determine who will go head to head for the coveted spot on the US Olympic Team!

The offical FEI start list has been announced for the REEM ACRA WOrld Cup Dressage Final to be held this April in s'Hertogenbosh, the Netherlands. 18 riders from 12 different countries will contest the title currently held by European Champion Adelinde Cornelissen. The Sydney CDI3* is set to kick off next week on May 3, 2012 and run through May 5th. The Sydney CDI was the first internationally recognised dressage competition in Australiain 1992 where it quickly outgrew the original venue in Hunter Valley within two years. After moving to Sydney, it has become the highlight of Australia's dressage circuit. Competition will be interesting as this year many top riders are stationed in Europe trying to earn a coveted spot in the Olympics. This leads the door open for some new Grand Prix horses to earn a top prize at the CDI. Read More Here!

Eurodressage.com has a couple of interesting breeding stories this week with the news that the amounts of breedings in Germany has been on the decrease over the last couple of years. While demand is still "stable" for horses, breeders are taking a much more conservative approach to breeding due to market conditions. Read More Here! Also at Eurodressage - the highly prasied 5-year-old Oldenburg bred Jack Sparrow (Johnson x Wolkentnz II - currently ridden by Dutch Superstar Edward Gal) has not yet completed a stallion perormance test in either Germany or Holland which leaves his coming 2013 foal crop with registry question marks hanging over their heads....

Two horses that came to the Livestock and Equine Awareness and Rescue Network that were starving (one had chemical burns on his back that was actually bruning the flesh away) have sound themselves a saviour. Country music legend Willi Nelson has reached out and adopted both horses and once recovered, they will move to his ranch in Texas.....Read more about the horses and their new home and watch a video!
