Dressage News Notes for the week of April 16-20, 2012. The world stage is set this weekend with the FEI Word Cup Dressage Final this weekend in 's Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands kicking off tomorrow. Title defender Parzival was "not level" in the vet jog and must be reinspected Friday am. The last competition of the Global Dressage Festival was a wrap last weekend with Team USA 1 winning Gold at the Nations Cup! Courtney King-Dye introduced her new mount, sponsored by Jane Clark, that she hopes will take her to the top of para-equestrian sport. Lastly, out of a sad situation of a barn fire in Illinois, two heros - brave 15 and 21 year-old girls risked their lives to go into the barn several times to rescue some 25 horses from peril.{C}In addition to the World Cup competition, there are several shows taking place across the country. The south will host several shows this weekend including the Wellington Classic Dressage Challenge III in West Palm Beach, FL, the Blue Angel Dressage in Pensacola, FL, Poplar Place Farm April Dressage Show in Hamilton, GA, Dressage At Greystone in Lynnville, TN and the SVDA, Inc Spring Fling in Williamsburg, VA. The north will play host to the Mystic Valley Hunt Club , Inc. Dressage in Gales Ferry, CT. In the middle region we have the William Woods Spring Dressage I and II in Fulton, MO and the Dressage For The Cure At The Peak in Parker, CO. The lone competition in California will be the DCT Dressage in Somis.


The 2012 FEI World Cup Dressage Final is set to begin tomorrow, April 20 at 12:00 (local time). The Following the Grand Prix class, the top 15 riders will then qualify to go on to Saturday nights Freestyle which will determine the 2011/2012 Reem Acra FEI World Cup™ Dressage Champion. Eurodressage.com reports that the Dressage World Cup title defender, Parzival, has been held for re-inspection after the veternarian jog in 's Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. Adelinde's life partner Sjaak van der Lei stated the Parzival was not level during the vet inspection but schooled with no issues and they fully expect hime to pass reinspection tomorrow at 9am. The USA 1 Team captured Gold in the Nations Cup competition at the last show of the inagural Global Dressage Festival - the $35,000 WEF Wellington Dressage Nations CDIO3*! Team Europe was the winner of the Silver and Team USA 2 took Bronze. Read more about the Nations Cup here! The National Show held in conjunction with the CDIO3* was came to a close with Evi Strasser and Renaissance Tyme being the last pair to go down centerline. The Global Dressage Festival was one of the world's largest international and national dressage circuits featuring a CDI3*, a CDI5*, and the first non-championship CDIO Nations Cup in the Western Hemisphere. Courtney King-Dye has introduced her new partner, "Buddy" who she hopes to have a successful para-equestrian career with. Courtney is ranked at 1A which is where riders only compete at the walk. Buddy, an 8-year-old Hanoverian who Courtney crowned with the show name "Make Lemonade", was purchased by Jane Clark for Courtney to compete. Jane Clark is widely know for her support of riders with some of the top horses in dressage, show jumping and driving. Check out the video and be sure to visit Courtney's website!

A fantastically brave 15-year-old girl named Madison Wallraf is a heros to many horses and their owners. When fire broke out at the M&R Overlook Farm in McHenry, IL, Madison bravely went in time and time again to resuce horse sometimes having to crawl when smoke filled the halls to just three feet above the floor. Shannon Weitzman, 21, also went into the barn to help pull horses out and in all, 25 horses were saved! Read more from MSNBC and watch the video!
