David Hansen qualified at the Northwest Affiliate Regional Championship and rode for the West Coast Reining Horse Association aboard Laura Johnson’s Vintage Sparks (A Sparkling Vintage x Chic Hickory Doc x Smart Chic Olena). Last to go in the draw, Hansen took home the championship as well as third place honors in the Adequan NAAC Novice Horse Open Level 2 with a score of 208.5, taking home $618.35.

“We purchased this 5-year-old gelding for our client, Laura (Johnson), in February this year and she’s been showing him in the Green As Grass and Green Reiner classes with the intent to come back in the Rookie here next year,” said the NRHA Professional. “I’ve been showing him in the novice and open divisions and we made it here. He’s a very good natured and good minded horse, has lots of talent, is a big stopper and is still forgiving enough to help a novice person learn. Yet, he will still be competitive at an open level. We are lucky enough to have good-minded horses that cross over fairly well and I give my wife Becky the credit for finding them. I showed three geldings here and they’re all rookie horses!”

For the win, Hansen took home a Bob’s Custom Saddle, a Montana Silversmiths Custom Trophy Buckle, a Classic Equine product, a Platinum Performance product, a pair of Anderson Bean Boots, an Adequan product, a $150 SmartPak Gift Card, an embroidered halter provided by Markel, a blanket from Avila Pro Shop and Bluebonnet Feed.

Kyle Kellmer rode Melinda Lynn Cresap’s ARC King Snapper to the Reserve championship. The 5-year-old stallion is by Master Snapper and out of Custom Mahogany (by Custom Crome). Kellmer qualified at the Northwest Affiliate Regional Championships and rode for the Oregon Reining Horse Association. The reserve champions were awarded a Montana Silversmiths Custom Trophy Buckle, a Classic Equine product, an Adequan product, an embroidered Halter provided by Markel, a blanket from Avila Pro Shop and Bluebonnet Feed supply.
