Aachen, Germany– Juan Matute Guimon, an 18-year-old Grand Prix dressage rider who represents Spain in international competition, bested top young riders from all over the world at the 2016 World Equestrian Festival CHIO Aachen in Aachen, Germany this past weekend.

Matute Guimon ranked first in the Under 25 Grand Prix with a 71.349 percent aboard his father’s 2006 Hanoverian, Quantico Ymas. Matute Guimon and Quantico Ymas also took second place in the Under 25 Grand Prix Freestyle with a 73.600 percent. Custom Saddlery, a longtime sponsor of Matute Guimon, was thrilled to see him once again achieve impressive results while riding in a Custom saddle.

Matute Guimon also received a high placing in the CHIO Aachen Intermediare I on Dhannie Ymas, a 2007 Hanoverian gelding (Don Crusador x Weltmeyer) owned by Yeguada de Ymas. They earned sixth place with a 69.500 percent in a field of formidable contenders.

“The experience of riding in Aachen was amazing,” said Matute Guimon. “This was my second year competing there, but this year was my first time participating in the CDIO5*. Sharing the warm-up rings with some of the best riders in the world is quite the feeling. Also, since it’s an Olympic year, the atmosphere was even more exciting!”

Matute Guimon has had a history of success in the dressage arena that belies his young age. In 2015, Matute Guimon became the first Spanish youth rider to ever win an individual medal when he won the Kur to Music Gold Medal at the 2015 European Junior Riders Championships. This year, his European tour began after spending the winter winning blue ribbon after blue ribbon at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida.

Before entering the arena for what is sure to be a show-stopping ride, Matute Guimon saddles up with Custom Saddlery. He rides all three of his competition horses in the Advantage R Custom Saddlery model, although each saddle has slight variations to achieve the optimum fit for every horse. “I love the Custom Saddlery saddles,” Matute Guimon said. “They are top-quality saddles. Nice leather, great seat, and comfortable for the rider and the horse. They have a huge variety of trees so they really make the saddle customized. Many brands only have one tree that only fits one type of horse, but Custom Saddlery adjusts to you and your horse. Other riders often ask me what saddle I use, and I always say, ‘Custom, of course!’”

Now that the 2016 World Equestrian Festival CHIO Aachen has come to a successful close for Matute Guimon, he is taking some well-deserved time to rest before preparing to go down centerline again.

Custom Saddlery is known for providing saddles with exceptional fit and comfort for both horse and rider, with a myriad of ways to customize each saddle.
